La Mer Donates To Support Oceana
La Mer Cosmetics has reportedly donated $100,000 to support Oceana in celebration of 2008 World Ocean Day. The donation will be directed to helping Oceana’s fund global initiatives and support their mission of ocean conservation.
Talking Makeup reports that World Ocean Day is a chance for people around the world to celebrate the beauty and bounty of the oceans and recognize our connection and dependence on them.
The holiday is not officially recognized by the United Nations (UN), but over 700 museums, conservation organizations and agencies take it upon themselves to celebrate the holiday and work for its official recognition.
According to Stylefrizz, Oceana has been receiving support from La Mer Cosmetics since 2005.
They are receiving La Mer support since 2005 so it’s really not a passing fling!
Andrew Sharpless, the CEO of Oceana, is quoted commenting on the importance of donating and supporting this movement.
“It’s a dismal forecast, but I really believe that we can turn the tide and bring our oceans back if enough people get active and involved. It is no coincidence that a forward-thinking company like La Mer not only understands this point, but is also doing something about it. Oceana is grateful for La Mer’s generous support and is looking forward to getting more done for the oceans as a result,” Sharpless said.
