Olsen Twins In Trouble With PETA Over New Fashion Accessories
Uh oh, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen have struck the wrong chord with PETA, or People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, in the latest round of fashion news. In the Olsen twin’s new line of backpack fashion accessories, they have been using animal pelts as the material to create said backpack. This new line of fashion accessories cost around $17,000 to purchase one for yourself … yes, you read that correct … the Olsen twins are selling fur backpacks for $17,000.
A spokesperson for PETA, an animal rights activist group, was quoted saying, “What the Olsens lack in creativity, they try to make up for with shock value.” (Hey PETA, tell us how you really feel…) Do not fret though, this is not the first time that an issue between PETA and the Olsen twins have made the fashion news. Ever since the Olsen twins started entering the fashion world, their clothing lines and various fashion accessories have always been criticized by the activist group, even back in 2008 when PETA protesters nicknamed the two, the Trollsen Twins.
The new $17,000 backpack consists of a patchwork design that is made of different animal furs. This new backpack patchwork design and material as prompted PETA to continue calling the Olsen twins “trolls”. They even have gone as far as saying that anyone who is caught wearing these backpacks should be called a troll as well.( Though, with this hefty price tag, I do not think it will catch on around the world, but that is just me.) PETA has called on the world to not purchase these new tote bags because they are “made from the fur and skins of innocent animals.”
