Invited To A Wedding? Time To Dress Up!
Besides a lot of fun, being invited to a wedding brings some really tough decisions to make. The hardest decision for most women is what to wear.
Of course the day belongs to the bride, but you can still have a little piece of it since everyone wants to look fabulous. Here are some tips you will find useful:
- The first and most important rule is not to wear white. The only woman wearing white on the wedding day should be the bride. ‘Nuff said.
- According to tradition, wearing black to a wedding might mean disrespect and disapproval. Today many women prefer wearing black to a wedding, but you’ll look much more gorgeous if you choose more cheerful, gentle and feminine colors. Pastel colors like lilac, pale blush, caramel, peach and lime are very popular at weddings.
- If there’s a dress code, it is always mentioned in the invitation. If the dress code is “Black Tie,” then men are expected to wear tuxedos and women wear long evening dresses.
- For “Business Formal” avoid wearing anything sexy and revealing. A suit for him and a long evening dress for you. The colors for this dress code are usually darker.
- If the dress code is “Cocktail,” then men wear suits with the tie being optional. Women can choose knee length flirty dresses.
- “Smart Casual” will mean, for example, a polo shirt and khaki pants for men. Women can wear short dresses or pants with a fancy shirt.
- “Casual” will mean anything you would wear to a restaurant. It can be pants, even jeans with a nice shirt, not necessarily a fancy one.
- If the wedding is going to be on the beach, you can wear a strapless breezy dress with floral patterns on it. You can also wear sandals and don’t forget to put a tropical flower in your hair as an accessory. Men can wear a light shirt and pants. Sexy high heel shoes should stay in the closet as it will be highly uncomfortable to walk in them on the sand.
- Try to find out what color the bridesmaids are going to wear. It would be very weird being dressed like a bridesmaid if you aren’t one.
- There are couples who give a theme to their wedding. If so, you can put all of the traditional rules aside and go with a dress that suits the theme.
And just remember that a wedding is where you should be happy for the couple, have fun and dance, so the best option would be to wear a bright colored dress that, most importantly, you feel comfortable in.
