Winter Fashion Trends: The Versatility Of The Cardi Wrap
The cardi wrap is a “must have” for every woman’s winter fashion wardrobe. Whether you live in the cold, cold north or the Deep South, the cardi-wrap is the most versatile piece of ladies fashion you can own.
The cardi-wrap is basically a cross between a cardigan sweater and a stole. In a sense, it is just a rectangular piece of cloth with sleeves inserted into it and is a great accessory to ladies fashion. It is typically long in the front and shorter in the back. It can be made of any type of material, whether it is nice wool, fleece or a simple silky and light material. It can take you from casual to stylish in just a matter of seconds. You can wear your cardi-wrap loose, belted or tied. You can also wear it half-wrapped, wrapped and backward.
The color trends for your winter fashion shouldn’t be as bright as they are in the Spring and Summer. But don’t let your cardi-wrap color be a dull brown or grey, unless your winter fashion wardrobe warrants that color. Personally, I have one in black that I can dress up any outfit with almost immediately. I do accessorize it with colorful pins and such. Sometimes it is an elephant on my black cardi when I am wearing an animal print underneath or I will put on an accessory that is a little splashier when I am wearing a turtleneck underneath. Some of the more popular colors for 2011-2012 have been hues of lavender, cantaloupe, or honeydew. I personally have a washed out, lavender fleece cardi-wrap that I wear to football games as that is the school colors. It kept me warm and with the longer part of the wrap, I was able to cover my legs and keep them warm on those cold Friday nights.
Want to save a little money? Sew your own cardi-wrap. I sewed my own. Knowing that I wanted something versatile to carry me from one function to another and, in my case, keep me warm, I went in search of a pattern. To my surprise, I found the pattern for only a few dollars, purchased the fleece and was wearing my cardi-wrap within a few hours. The cardi-wrap has been the perfect addition of to my winter fashion and I encourage everyone to add one to their winter fashion wardrobe.
