Understanding Men Today
It seems, understanding men is a quest in vain, for women. Most men usually and more especially, single guys, only have very vague ideas of what they want in life. They know even less, when it comes to what they want from a woman. Without being aware of it, they tend to send mixed messages which leave most women feeling bewildered and more than a little confused. It may be helpful if women were able to put themselves in mens’ shoes, when they find themselves irritated by a man’s behaviour. Women have a tendency to look for acknowledgment, by complaining about problems, while men are looking for solutions.
Most single guys are sorely lacking in the romance gene. Some men in relationships tend to develop a little of this gene over time. If women were more aware of the lack of the romance gene, understanding men would be a far easier task. It is just not a natural or normal behaviour for men to begin writing cards, love letters and sending flowers. In most instances, they have to be told to do this. Someone has usually advised them on what action to take. This frustrating behaviour does not mean that a man has less character, it only means that he has a different way of thinking when it involves romance.
From very young, women have been taught that part of understanding men, is that men are strong and in control of everything, while men are trained to internalise their feelings and remain disconnected. “Boys don’t cry,” a common saying which is ingrained into the minds of many single guys. Men are not as eager as women to discuss problems. They prefer to keep it to themselves for awhile and think about it. Men like to come up with an appropriate answer or a solution to the problem. Women need to be sensitive to the man’s communication needs and give him some space. Always remembering that they have different communication styles.
