Patrick Mohr's Alien Fashion
Patrick Mohr, a well-known designer who is the author of the most uncommon runway shows, has introduced another freaky fashion show for his latest women’s clothing line at Berlin Fashion Week.
Mohr, who is one of Germany’s top fashion designers, unveiled his new spring/summer 2011 collection on July 9.
The appearance of the models was more shocking than the clothes they had on. Or should I say the clothes they didn’t have on?
The show started with the models coming out on the runway wearing only shorts. Some of them were naked from the waist up and you could only tell they were female from their physical features. Why?
All the models, regardless of their sex, had beards and bald heads. They wore identical makeup and had the same super thin body proportions, which, to tell the truth, looked very odd.
The most eye-popping color in this summer fashion show was red which looked absolutely alien on the colorless bodies of the models. Cream colors were also prevailing. You could still see the triangular sign all over the collection. This sign has already become Mohr’s signature. A big triangle was also on the runway wall.
If you don’t let the strange appearance of the models confuse you, Mohr’s creations are pretty wearable, although they are far away from being considered high glamor. If you put the catwalk makeup and the boldness aside, the outfits or the parts of it would actually be comfortable and good looking for the street-wear unlike most of Mohr’s fashion.
Mohr’s aim is always to be original and for the most part he always succeeds.
Although nearly every one who is into fashion knows about his uncommon ideas, most of them were shocked to see the skeletal models. It gave the impression of being trapped in a horror movie.
But, of course, the effect he had on the audience might be just what he was expecting. I personally can’t wait for his next strange and shocking display of new fashion.
