Top 5 Italian Fashion Titans
For hundreds of years Italy has been the leading country of the fashion world and has dictated taste in harmony, color and style. Fashion history kept the name “The Fashion Hub of the Whole World” especially for this country, which has given birth to the most famous fashion designers of the world.
Here’s my top 5 list of the greatest Italian fashion designers ever:
1. Valentino Garavani — Valentino’s extravagance is incomparable and inimitable in his evening and wedding dresses in which drama and romance (two categories that create a real feminine character) play in harmonic unity. He puts all of his passion in creating unique designs without focusing on details. His imagination of making a bias cut is perfect. That’s why you shouldn’t be surprised watching his “handwriting” in the elegant presence of megastars on red-carpet shows. Among world-famous women whose feminity was underlined by Valentino’s great talent are Jackie Onassis, Elizabeth Taylor, Halle Berry, Julia Roberts, Jennifer Aniston, Gwen Stefani, Claudia Shiffer, Gwenyth Paltrow and many others.
2. Giorgio Armani – “When I think about elegance, I think of how one achieves it only by silencing loud trends.” These are the words of another Italian fashion titan, Giorgio Armani. Maybe this is his slogan that contains the whole ideology of his successful career. I highly regard his talent because Armani doesn’t force his own taste on his fans. His models create some kind of space which helps people to make their own style, to fill that space with something that is only theirs and express their individuality. His style tends to be an art — Armani makes womens’ wear by using some menswear structure or symbolic cuts and vice versa, especially while modeling jackets. Armani is leading not only by his clothing design, but also by his company which is famous for fragrances, eyeglasses, housewear, sportswear, watches and cosmetics.
3. Versace — This name is synonymous with luxury and sexuality. It is beyond all traditional limits. The deep cuts and wild designs with striking colors and different materials, yet elegant and classic bring out the wearer’s sensual world. Men’s sexual idols often appear in Versace’s body hugging clothes or in luxurious jewelry or accessories that Gianni Versace and, after his tragic death, his sister Donatella Versace offer to pop and film stars. Among such stars stand Elton John, George Michael, Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, Sylvester Stallone, Will Smith and Elizabeth Hurley. Versace’s fashion shows are famous for originality and fantasy, and often they are decorated with the astonishing presence of well-known actors and musicians.
4. Miuccia Prada creates an aristocratic character — classic, mild, vague, with few contrasting colors but still stylish. The wearer who goes for Prada’s offers is the one who doesn’t want to gain everybody’s attention but to feel the real value and quality of perfectly designed clothing through simple patterns.
5. Dolce and Gabbana — Do you know the secret of this designer couple? The formula that makes their designs original is the following — they put the old and new in one place. It is a single unity in which two different people with completely different tastes joined their ideas and efforts to astonish the entire world with funky models. More modern than modern, younger than young, words that embodied in their style giving the opportunity to look fresh, new and sexual.
These are legendary names that are the adornment of all world-scale fashion shows. These names are associated with elegance, freshness and luxury.
