Although Italian design and Italian fashion seems to be a fairly recent development in the world today, Italians have been known as extremely well-dressers for many centuries. In the early part of the 20th century the Italians became famous for their high quality shoes, while their silks and textiles were already famous in Europe. Luxottica and Bulgari are some of Italy’s most famous jewelry designers of luxurious pieces, in which unique gemstones are used. The distinctive Italian look finally emerged at the first fashion show held in Florence in 1951, for designers. Capri pants and palazzo pajamas and some other elegant designs solidified the Italian reputation.
Italian fashion has highly influenced the style and design in many other countries. Italian design in clothing, accessories, cosmetics and fragrances are well known as some of the top designs in the world, most often the first choice of anyone looking for quality. Italy is one of the leading countries in fashion design along with a number of other countries. Dressing well has always been a integral part of the Italian lifestyle and culture. Craft based products such as shoes, leather goods and accessories made in Italy, have been hugely successful and are distributed worldwide.
Milan and Rome are included in the top 30 fashion capitals of the world. Florence is important, but to a lesser extent. There are many other cities which are important role players in Italian fashion. Many of the most famous Italian design brands have made Milan their headquarters. Many international fashion cities host fashion week twice a year, including Milan and Rome. Although Rome is not as important as Milan, it is recognized worlwide as the fourth most important fashion city in the world. Many of the worlds luxury fashion boutiques are situated in Rome. Milan, Rome and Florence are regarded as some of the leading cities in Italian fashion.
