Wedding Hats Replacing Wedding Veils
About three generations ago there was a rule for every women. Whenever you went out, you covered your head. It was intolerable to be found without a hat in public. With time everything changes, but those decades left their footprint.
Today almost every bride covers her head with a veil or a hat. The story of bridal decorations is very interesting.
First, it has the symbol of purity and even mystery, too. Secondly, it was believed that the veil was worn to confuse evil spirits. And eventually brides covered their faces with a veil, because it was considered bad luck for the groom to see his bride before the ceremony. Even nowadays many grooms avoid this latter superstition.
Head coverings for the wedding always had a religious significance. Modern brides use them not for religious purposes, but for fashion. Nowadays many brides prefer hats instead of veils. It helps to protect from sun during spring and summer weddings. Besides, it helps to avoid spending long hours on styling your hair. Somehow wearing a hat seems to make a whole occasion more glamorous.
If you really decide to wear a hat on your wedding day, you should know that the most famous wedding hats designer in the world is Philip Treacy.
Philip was born in a little village in Ireland. In his childhood he was fond of watching wedding ceremonies. At the age of seven he began sewing hats for his sister’s dolls. The desire of becoming a hatmaker was so strong in him that in 1985 he entered National College of Art and Design. Later he started designing wedding hats for famous couture houses and succeeded. Now hats designed by Philip are worn even by Queen Elizabeth, which perfectly conveys Treacy’s talent.
Every bride’s wish is to look beautiful, but don’t put much effort in selecting a wedding dress, veil or hat. Ultimately, the things that will make you happy aren’t veils or wedding hats.
